Kevin McGuire In Fame
This was my first ever time stage dooring for a show which wasn't Cats, my first West End show which wasn't Cats and my first time seeing anyone from the 2006 tour cast not in the show any longer - I was nervous and had no idea what to expect and whether or not I would even enjoy the whole experience. But any nerves I had disappeared pretty much as soon as I saw Kevin McGuire appear onstage in Fame for the first time! I remember being absolutely enchanted by his dancing just as much as I had been in Cats, and I every performance I went to I used to look out for one particular moment where he did a handstand on a table which I always thought of as his little Carbucketty moment in the show! He was so happy and so suprised to see me make it down to the show for him and it was pretty much the dream introduction I could've had to this new type of theatre trip where it was as much about the person I was going to see as it was the show - I enjoyed the excitement of learning a new show and also of being able to support a former Jellicle, and I even got to begin a new tradition of utterly baffling the famous people in shows when H from Steps who had the lead in Fame for that production became the first "star" to see me waiting at stage door, grinning at someone only for it to turn out to not be them I wanted the photo with but their understudy!
