Cassie Clare in Little Shop of Horrors
Whenever I get to see Cassie Clare perform, it is alllways a memorable time - and this trip was no exception! August is peak season in Llandudno, so it was unfortunately not possible to get rooms at our usual favourite (excellent) B&B there, which meant we had no real clue what we were getting into with the place we booked, we just knew it was pretty much the only place left. Turned out there were reasons for that! Honestly it...was bleak! To the point we literally tried to touch as little as possible the entire time we were in there. We headed back out about two seconds after we got in and went for a meal at a teashop and we couldn't stop laughing about the place we were staying - it was terrible but we decided to just make the best of it and make a joke about it because it was a lovely sunny day and we had a show to look forward to. I got ready in some kind of record time that evening, although honestly that was less to do with the place we were staying and more because I was honestly just so thrilled to be back on a theatre trip again after having gone for a little while without one, and I was even more excited to see Cassie again for the first time in a long time. The show itself was really great; a small but really talented cast and just generally a fun production and fun musical all round; Cassie was absolutely sensational, and I cannot stress enough just how much star quality she had and the sheer power of her presence on a stage - getting to see her show that off and really sing and perform was a real treat and I couldn't take my eyes off her for the entire performance. At stage door after the show I got another of those wonderful crushing Cassie hugs and we caught up on what we'd both been up to and she was so ridiculously kind to me in saying how happy she was that I came to the show - she had even gone to the trouble of getting on of the show's tote bags and asking all the cast to sign it for me to give to me as a thank you for my support and to this day I treasure it so much because it was just so unexpected but so sweet. Cassie is so effusive and warm and genuine, and I came away from the theatre that night just feeling honoured to know her and so lucky to have had the chance to get to see her perform: she is absolute star power personified and everything she does is an absolute treat to watch.
