Christopher Howell In South Pacific
This was a last minute trip which we barely planned for at all, but I was and still am extremely glad we decided to squeeze it in to the tight timeframe we had available because it is one of my favourite stage door memories of a post-Cats show. South Pacific is a show I have a soft spot for and Chris Howell was absolutely sublime in it: the man is so talented and his beautiful voice and comedic timing were the absolute perfect fit. In what would prove to be a valuable learning lesson for how to find the tricky Wolverhampton Grand stage door (which I would be grateful for in 2013!) we managed to find our way to the stage door just in time to catch Chris who was so warm and kind and full of hugs for us, so touched and delighted that we had made it to see him in a post-Cats show and as gentle and lovely as we had remembered him. There was something extra-delightful about this stage door that I never could quite put my finger on - I think because it was so unexpected and yet worked out so perfectly, but also probably because Chris is one of the loveliest souls on the planet and his happiness to see us was such a lovely thing to see.
