The Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent,
October & November 2013
The 2013 Jellicle Tribe finally made their way to my hometown, and it was a trip I was sure not to miss! During their brief trip to Stoke I was lucky enough to see my favourite Superhero swing Matthew Caputo go on as Mungojerrie and, as if that wasn't amazing enough, I also managed to get one of the best group photos I've ever taken with almost all my favourites all together at stage door! In many ways it felt like a frenzied experience: the show was only at the Regent for a really short run of time and it did feel like so much was having to be packed in and rushed through for me even though I was still going to two performances. I was so happy that even after the whole summer the cast remembered me, and it was really lovely getting to talk to a group of all my favourites in one go as they all play characters who aren't often treated l ike the stars of the show. Matthew remembered me and I felt really lucky that I got to see him play a very sweet Mungojerrie and for a whole show and actually congratulate him straight after the performance this time. After the second performance I saw stage door was crazy-busy so I only really managed to talk to Joel and Dawn, but even in the rain it was wonderful to get to chat to them again. During both performances I found myself growing still more attached to this cast's version of the show and the characters, and this time I wasn't going to try and pretend I didn't want this adventure to continue - my ticket for a performance in Liverpool was already booked and a whole other journey had begun, though still I was only half-aware how special these travels would become to me.
